Wedding stationery:
This is important to get right as it is the proclamation of your intended
special day. Your wedding invitations should say something about you
and the venue. When I say you I mean that you the bride should be the
one to choose these. I know that mothers will want their say and will
undoubtedly give their advice which of course is valuable as we, that
have reached a certain age will testify to, have accumulated knowledge if
not exactly the wisdom of Solomon behind us.
O.K.... back to the stationery.
Style:
If your outlook is contemporary and you prefer the clean cut and unfrilly
(is that a word?) then you most probably will want to avoid the traditional
elegant stationery.
Take into consideration the style and venue of the wedding. Is it formal,
casual or so laid back that it's horizontal?
If your wedding dress is ivory do you want white invitations?
Are you looking to match everything? Is there an ancillary color that
you'd like?
Do you like embellishments? Ribbon etc.
Did you know that there is also a weight consideration? Fine stationers
offer a weight from very light to very heavy.
Do you prefer plain envelopes or one with a gold, silver or colored
interior and do you want a return address printed on them?
Check out the entire 'set' of your preferred invitation as, if you are going
to purchase the matching items listed below, you need to be happy with
the size, shape and design of those too (sometimes one of the other
pieces in a range might not be as attractive or not work with your theme).
Script:
When you make your decision on the actual stationery you'll need to
consider the font. Edwardian and French scripts are pretty but can be
difficult to read especially for your older guests.
Color: Black, gold and silver are more traditional but there are some
great colored inks available but double check if they are okay with the
color of your stationery. It is surprising how some colors blend rather too
well into a background color. You need a contrast.
Embossing can raise a card from the realms of mediocrity to being very
impressive.
Then the actual wording needs to be decided upon and you will need to
check out etiquette - you definitely do not want to upset the apple cart by
incorrect salutations etc.

You can see that wedding stationery requires some in depth thought but
once you are confident that your chosen invites are great and exactly

expectations. Ask advice from sisters and friends and please do not
forget your mother, keep her in the loop as this is a very special time for
her too. You can be independent but still be aware and sensitive to
others. Yes you have a huge responsibility but you can do it.
