If you told that every electrical item in my home was going to disappear
but I could choose one to keep then I would run not walk to grab my Oreck
vacuum cleaner. I absolutely love my Oreck. I purchased my first from an
online shopping club in the nineties after watching a very interesting and
informative commercial in which they stated that if, for any reason, it was
not as advertised or did not operate as described that they would fully
refund the full purchase price. So I decided to take the plunge.
Admittedly it was expensive compared to the usual Hoover and Bissell that
I had invariably purchased previously however we had just moved into a
large home and the thought of keeping 3,000 square feet of ivory carpet
looking good was a somewhat daunting prospect so when they said to call
in and order I did exactly that.
When it arrived and I first removed it from the packaging I must admit that
I was not very impressed. Aesthetically it was not really attractive, it did
not look anything like as substantial as my other vacuum cleaners and it
was feather light. Which brings me to my first point. It is light. Wonderfully
light. Which was one very big plus for me. I had suffered frozen shoulder a
couple of years before and after 2 years of constant, agonizing pain I was
left with a shoulder which, although now usable, had lost a lot of it's
strength and any attempt at more than five minutes of continued
housework left me exhausted and in pain. I could pick the Oreck up
without any problem whatsoever and vacuum my entire home pain and
stress free.
The second point that I wish to shout from the roof tops is that it is
powerful. The suction is incredible which means that instead of two, three
of four sweeps of an area to clean it, all it takes is one light glide and it is
totally clean. Not only is it totally clean but the suction is so intense that it
draws up the pile so that it looks like it has been freshly cleaned by an
industrial carpet cleaning machine. I do not know how they compact so
much power into this light wonder but they do.
The third point is that it glides effortlessly from the carpet onto tile and
wood. No changing to another type vacuum, altering height levels or
anything else it just adjusts automatically to any surface. The Oreck is a
vacuum cleaning masterpiece.
My old Oreck has been passed onto my daughter and I now have the 40th
Anniversary Edition which is a few years old now but is still performing as
well as it did on day one. I belieive that if you buy an Oreck you will never
return to the heavy, cumbersome vacuums and you too, like me, would
choose this wonderful machine over any other.
